About the Archives

The West Virginia Wesleyan College Archives is primarily responsible for collecting, preserving, arranging, describing, and making accessible approximately 900 linear feet of historical material related to the operation of West Virginia Wesleyan College from its original inception (1880s) and founding (1890) to the present day. 

Such items include (but are not limited to)

  • student records (academic and co-curricular),
  • department-specific and individual faculty records,
  • extracurricular, cultural, athletic, and campus life-related records,
  • faculty and student research/publications,
  • administrative and financial records,
  • institutional publications,
  • items and records related to prominent alumni,
  • photographs and audio/visual material related to the college history,
  • institution-related ephemera.

Visiting the Archives

Researchers interested in visiting the Archives are requested to schedule such visits prior to coming to campus.  Please contact the archivist at least 48 hours in advance to schedule a visit to the Archives.  Such advance notice allows us to ensure adequate staffing and to pull relevant materials for easier access the day of your visit.
