Open Educational Resources (OER): Creative Commons Licensing

Creative Commons Licensing

Many OER resources are published using Creative Commons licensing.  Creative Commons works within the framework of copyright law by offering "a free, simple, and standardized way to grant copyright permissions for creative and academic works; ensure proper attribution; and allow others to copy, distribute, and make use of those works." (Creative Commons - What We Do).

Applying Creative Commons Licensing

When creating presentations, assignments, or other teaching and learning resources, consider applying a Creative Commons license to your work and sharing it to a OER repository to be used by others.

Use the CC License Chooser to help you apply the correct license to your work.
